On February 22, 2024, the IAF and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) added climate change references to ISO management system standards.

Therefore, new and existing clients are requested to identify the relevance of their organization’s activities to climate change in accordance with ISO Standard 4.1 Context of Organization and 4.2 Requirements of interested parties.

(1) Risk Identification and Assessment

- Periodically conduct ISO management system-based risk assessments for departmental business operations, product planning, external trends, etc.

- Include regional global regulations and market changes that may affect the organization’s business and reputation.

(2) Management of Risk and Opportunity

Establish a dedicated department to monitor energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy use, and climate impacts.

- Discuss and make decisions related to climate change risks and opportunities.

- Discuss business opportunities (e.g., changes in consumption patterns, preference for eco-friendly products, energy cost reductions), and then transfer them to each business unit and related department for implementation.
